BUMF:Media consists of many roles and we want you join the team!

We have the following roles available, click on the title to expand the job description and fill out the application form below.

Please note all of these roles are part-time volunteer positions.

Bumf:Publication

Content Manager
Role Description

The Content Manager will have responsibility for all Bumf submissions and website content. You will be responsible for organising and responding to submissions, scheduling them for post on the website, keeping pages and content up-to-date and streamlined. Experience with WordPress is desirable.

Main Responsibilities

  • Organising and responding to submissions for website and other online publications – you will need to ensure submissions are by current AUB students, that they are appropriate for the issue, and are of appropriate quality (i.e. file size) for web
  • Ensure that an appropriate number of ‘Calls for Submission’ are made
  • Work with Subject Area Scouts if you feel some subject areas are under represented in submissions
  • Regularly meeting with and working with the Chief of Design on the layout and appearance of the website

Necessary Skills

  • Experience of using WordPress, including plugins
  • Excellent organisation skills and reliability
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with the Editorial Team

Social Media Editor
Role Description

As the Social Media Manager you will have overall responsibility for all BUMF:Media social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.

Main Responsibilities

  • Following relevant people across social media platforms
  • Retweeting/reblogging/reposting any work by AUB Students or other online content that is of interest to BUMF:Media’s readership
  • Reply to comments and questions on Social Media
  • Schedule upcoming posts in advance, across all social media platforms
  • Maintain a consistent and engaging presence on all social media accounts
  • Adhere to AUBSU and the Universities’ policies when posting anything on social media

2 x Review Editor
Role Description

As a Review Editor you will be BUMF:Media’s eyes and ears at events, productions, gallery openings, shows, and any other event AUB students should read about

Main Responsibilities

  • Attend events, productions, gallery openings, shows and other art events
  • Write reviews of these events for written publication in BUMF’s print and online publications
  • Maintain awareness of AUB student events & coordinate with AUBSU Events and Societies officers

Necessary Skills

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to write engaging copy
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with the Editorial Team and AUBSU Officers

2 x Article Editor
Role Description

As an Article Editor you will be interested in current affairs, particularly within the creative realm, and you will be responsible for writing articles for Bumf magazine and to be published online.

Main Responsibilities

  • Writing engaging pieces around current and relevant topics
  • Be capable of working to sometimes short deadlines
  • Maintain awareness of current affairs affecting the creative industries and AUB students

Event Photographer
Role Description

We need one Events Photographer to shoot Bumf Gallery private views and any other Bumf-related event.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be available to shoot every Bumf Gallery private view, and other Bumf-related events
  • Communicate and coordinate with the Bumf Gallery Team
  • Maintain awareness of Bumf events and communicate with the Editorial team

Necessary Skills

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas
  • Experience using DSLRs and photographic equipment.
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with the Bumf Gallery team, Editorial team and AUBSU Officers

In-House Photographer
Role Description

We need one In-house Photographer for photographing student work for the publication in the magazine and website.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be available to shoot student work for Bumf magazine and website if required
  • Liase with the Content Manager to maintain awareness of submissions and requests for Bumf shoots

  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas
  • Experience using DSLRs and photographic equipment
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with the Editorial Team, Content Manager and AUBSU Officers

2 x Videographer
Role Description

Videographers will be responsible for filming Bumf Friday Features, Bumf Gallery private views and other events throughout the year.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be available to film Bumf Friday Features, Bumf Gallery private views and other Bumf events throughout the year
  •  Communicate with the Editorial team and Bumf Gallery team to organise shoots

  • Experience with cameras and filming equipment
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with the Editorial Team, Bumf Gallery team and AUBSU Officers

4 x Subject Area Scout
Role Description

Subject Scouts are responsible for keeping an eye out in their subject area (and others!) for great work and projects by their peers, and encouraging them to submit to Bumf.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be ambassadors for Bumf. Raise awareness of its existence among your peers and around the university
  • Engage and interact with different courses, encouraging students to submit their work to be featured in the magazine or on the website.
  • Maintain awareness of AUB student work and projects

Bumf:Gallery positions:

Gallery Coordinator
Role Description

The Gallery Coordinator will have responsibility for all Bumf Gallery exhibitions. You will be responsible for curating, organising and promoting all exhibitions, along with communicating with the Content Manager of Bumf Website to make sure all information on the site is up to date.

Main Responsibilities

  • Organising and responding to exhibition submissions for Bumf Gallery from the website– you will need to ensure submissions are by current AUB students or alumni.
  • Attend all Bumf Gallery Private Views
  • Be proactive in curating exhibitions. The Bumf Gallery needs to be filled throughout the year with regular changes in exhibitions.
  • Work with Subject Area Scouts if you feel some subject areas are under-represented in the gallery, and to find interesting work to be included in exhibitions from across the university.
  • Regularly meeting with the Bumf team to communicate exhibitions and coordinate promotion through Bumf and through Review Writers.

Gallery Team x 2
Role Description

The Gallery Team will support the Gallery Coordinator in curating and presenting work in Bumf Gallery exhibitions. You will be responsible for hanging work and presenting it in the required format, whether it is 2D, 3D, video or audio. You will also assist with the promotion of exhibitions and oversee Private Views.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist Bumf Gallery Coordinator through all stages of Exhibition; from curation, to installing artworks, promoting and holding the events.
  • Obtain necessary resources for presentation of work, which may include screens or plinths.
  • Work with Subject Area Scouts if you feel some subject areas are under-represented in the gallery, and to find interesting work to be included in exhibitions from across the university.
  • Regularly meeting with the Bumf team to communicate exhibitions and coordinate promotion through Bumf and through Review Writers.

Gallery Photographer
Role Description

The Gallery Photographer will document all the hard work that goes into Bumf Gallery exhibitions, and the glorious final result! You will attend Bumf Gallery Private Views and shoot the event.

Main Responsibilities

  • You must be available to attend all Bumf Gallery Private Views
  • Communicate and coordinate with the Bumf Gallery Team.
