Will Ablett, on Level 6 BA (Hons) Commercial Photography, presents a vibrant and colourful set of still life advertising images:
This project was a still life advertising editorial for a range of herbal tea infusions that are designed to effect and influence moods throughout the day.
Research by Mintel showed that sales of ordinary tea bags in the UK fell 6% between 2012 and 2014, whereas sales of fruit and herbal teas increased by 31% in the same period. The same research suggests that the overall tea market in the UK will increase over the next 5 years.
Using colour theory and colour psychology, influenced by theorists such as Goethe and Birren, the colours in these images were combined in ways that were designed to affect mood and emotion, for example cooler colours such as greens and blues were used to signal calming and contemplative moods.
The four teas in this project were inspired by the brand ‘Clipper’ and were based on four products from their ‘Occasions Infusions’ range. The teas were ‘Rise and Shine’, ‘Love me Truly’, ‘Zen Again’, and ‘Snore and Peace’.
