In the second of our Remembrance Day themed posts, Level 4 BA (Hons) Illustration student Rory Wilson at the Arts University Bournemouth tells us more about his piece ‘Memorial Still Life’.
A still life with a reflection of my thoughts about the War Memorial in the Lower Gardens in Bournemouth, done in pastel.I didn’t realise at the time when producing my still life that I had done it in commemorative red to fit in with the memorial itself.
A great reminder of what was lost during the war, silently standing tallAmongst the busy day to day lives of the next generation. To think that it all could have been so different if it weren’tfor the brave men and women who gave their lives for freedom.
There will be a Guest Speaker in the Arts Bar at 11.10am on 11th November who will be relaying their family experience of both the First and Second World Wars with personal historical photographic documentation and memorabilia.
Don’t forget you can pick up your Poppy in the Arts Bar.
